18/03/2009 : TVH - GROUP THERMOTE & VANHALST COMMITS ITSELF.
TVH - GROUP THERMOTE & VANHALST COMMITS ITSELF. On March 10th last, 11 companies signed the West-Flemish Charter Sustainable Enterprising. By doing so they officially endorsed the management principles and themes of the Charter and they commit themselves to undertaking sustainable actions within their everyday management. One of the new subscribers is TVH - Group Thermote & Vanhalst. The West-Flemish Charter Sustainable Enterprising – an initiative of the POM West- Flanders, VOKA KvK West-Flanders and Bureau Veritas Certification – is an auxiliary tool to give some structure to the company policy about sustainable enterprising and to work on a continuous improvement of performances in the environmental, social and economic field. The participating companies work proactively around 10 themes, to which concrete goals and actions are linked on a yearly basis. Sustainable projects at TVH – Group Thermote & Vanhalst Following the mobility scan that was taken at TVH in 2007, TVH-employee Nathalie Provoost elaborated a complete mobility plan. A brochure was created in which all possible ways to reach TVH have been explained. Carpooling is promoted strongly. A carpool statement and regulation were elaborated. Furthermore a carpool card and reserved parking spaces will be provided. Soon an info session will be held in the company by a specialist of the FOD mobility and transport; he will explain all the advantages of carpooling to any employee who might be interested. Other themes in the mobility brochure are the use of public transport, bicycles and a combination of both. For employees who would like to take advantage of this possibility, TVH puts free bikes at their disposal to drive from the station to the company. To conclude, all employees will receive a parking disc with a card in the colour of the parking reserved for their department. Another TVH-employee, Bram Lannoo, is taking care of the project solar panels. By the summer the company Enfinity will install a total roof surface of 11.796 m2 of solar panels, with a capacity of 604 kWp. TVH has invested more than 2.000.000 euro in this project. The yearly energy production is estimated at 475.000 kWh, as a result of which TVH will produce 13% of its total power consumption in a sustainable manner. But even for its remaining required power TVH doesn't lose sight of the durability factor; after all that is why the company uses the sustainable Alpenergy from Electrabel. In addition to investing in sustainable energy, TVH also plans different actions to reduce the energy consumption.
