19/11/2008 : A LONGER LIFE SPAN FOR TRACTION BATTERIES:
TVH & DAUGHTER SMH PRESENT BDX ANALYSER FOR BATTERIES. TVH - Group Thermote & Vanhalst and its American subsidiary SMH once more live up to their reputation of innovator with the introduction of the BDX battery discharger/analyser. One example of this is the company's continuous search for better techniques which prolong the life span of traction batteries. The new BDX analyser can definitely contribute to this. This automatic battery discharger/analyser was developed to test the efficiency of industrial batteries, regardless of type, voltage or capacity. The device can be programmed to discharge the battery in a controlled way at a continuous, adjustable current. During the discharge process the total discharge capacity is measured. As soon as the battery tension reaches the minimum programmed value or when the maximum programmed test time has expired, the BDX will automatically shut down while the measured parameters remain visible for the user. When the BDX has completed the discharge process, all details can be downloaded onto a PC by means via the USB or RS-232 port. This way the user gets a complete view of the results and of what has effectively changed. The dedicated PC software TrendCOM (compatible with MS Windows 98/2k/XP/Vista) is included with each BDX unit. The BDX is extremely user-friendly and doesn't require a special training. After programming, which takes less than 2 minutes, the device continues its function automatically. This high-frequency IGBT-regulator is available for battery tensions up to 600 VDC and discharge currents up to 600 Amp. The device is equipped with an intelligent electronic safety system with, among other things, soft start, reverse polarity and overheating protection. On the digital display users can read off the battery voltage and current, time, discharged capacity and the programmed values. The BDX is compact and portable and, thanks to its robust construction, can be used for applications in industrial environments. Two or more BDX units can be connected in parallel, so it's possible to reach an unlimited discharge power. In this case, the TrendCOM software will generate a unique, consolidated test report automatically. These are the references of the standard appliance: battery voltage: 12-48 V Maximum discharge current: 100 A – REF 101PM4582 battery voltage: 12-96 V Maximum discharge current: 200 A – REF 101PM4583
