The company Thermote & Vanhalst was founded in 1969 by Mr. Paul Thermote and Mr. Paul Vanhalst. It started by purchasing, reconditioning and selling old military lift trucks. Today, it is a global player in the forklift truck market.
For purchases of second-hand lift trucks, Thermote & Vanhalst initially looked to Belgium and Germany.

Since the availability of second-hand lift trucks in Europe was limited, the company started looking at Japan. This step was the foundation for a first major period of expansion. Many thousands of second-hand forklift trucks were bought in Japan for repair, overhaul and sale on the European market. Today, TVH has a permanent stock of approximately 2 100 second-hand forklift trucks in stock and over 5 000 new and second-hand forklift trucks are sold each year.

The repair of thousands of forklift trucks of all makes and the ensuing need for parts and accessories led to what is now the main activity of the group: the distribution of forklift truck spare parts.


This activity expanded enormously during the nineties, which is due to the company's unique know-how, built up over many years. Every day 20 000 active customers in no fewer than 162 countries make use of the stock of 450 000 different parts from a database of over 16 000 000 known parts references.

TVH is still very much a family business. The founders Paul Thermote and Paul Vanhalst formed the first generation, and now the TVH group is managed by the second generation.
The strong board consists of the families Thermote & Vanhalst.
