Overcoming challenges

There were some challenges ahead, however. The new panel required laminated glass; this was thicker than the tempered glass that was originally on the machine, and would prove difficult to install.

“On top of that, we noticed that there was a weld seam on the bodywork of the machines where the glass fits,” Stefan continues. The manager and his team had to work closely with the customer to find a solution. “In the end, we redesigned the way the glass would fit on the cabin. Instead of using screws, the windows would have to be bonded.”

A success story

“We manufactured an initial run of three panels under a tight deadline,” Stefan continues. “The success of this Linde project has transformed our relationship from a vendor-client dynamic into a close partnership.”

This experience also proved to be fertile ground for future projects: “The customer is already discussing some ideas for future developments. We are no longer just the people you call for a replacement window. We are the experts when standard solutions fall short, and custom engineering is the only way forward,” Stefan concludes.
