What is a full forklift cab enclosure?

A full forklift cab enclosure eliminates any gaps, completely enclosing a cabin on all sides, i.e., sealing the cabin at the front, back, and on the left and right. There are a number of reasons to go for a full forklift cab enclosure. Why?

Several key factors drive that decision, from the budget, the forklift truck’s intended use and where it will be used, to the comfort and safety of the forklift driver. What’s more, cab enclosures can flexibly incorporate various options. For example, drivers can opt to only enclose one or two sides of the forklift cab.

Forklift driver comfort & safety

Is it chilly out or is work in a refrigerated environment involved? The fully enclosed cab of a forklift truck affords drivers greater comfort when carrying out their duties.

Not only do closed cabs safeguard against foul weather and unpleasant temperatures, but they also improve driver safety by adding extra protection during goods transport and loading at height. Should a load fall unexpectedly, the driver is fully protected on all sides of the forklift cabin.

In addition to the standard protection of cab enclosures, a closed forklift cabin can also be equipped with air conditioning or heating. That provides drivers with guaranteed comfort under all weather conditions, in every environment.

Working environment & durability

Many forklift trucks are regularly employed in outdoor environments, subjecting them to additional wear and tear. On top of the improved driver comfort provided by closed forklift cabins, enclosures also shield the forklift itself from inclement weather conditions.

That cuts down on wear due to rain, snow, and ice, as well as hot temperatures. Fully enclosed forklift cabs extend the life of your equipment.

Budget

The budget plays a pivotal role in any decision. So, it only makes sense that it should impact your decision on whether to purchase a forklift cab enclosure or not. Fortunately, you aren’t limited to just one option.

Every forklift comes standard with an overhead guard. There are two options available, depending on the budget and how much of your forklift cab needs to be enclosed.

  • Windows

Enclose your forklift cab with windows. These are available in ultra-sturdy safety glass to keep forklift drivers safe at all times. In terms of safety and comfort, this is the best option; however, it’s also the most expensive.

  • Canvas cab

Enclose your forklift cabin with a canvas cab. Canvas cabs are incredibly versatile and come in a variety of configurations. For example, that could include a canvas cab without a front screen, a steel roof canvas cab, or a steel cab with canvas doors.
