Step 1: Weighing capacity
First and most importantly, the weighing capacity needs to be determined. After all, the pallet truck needs to be capable of handling the loads within your company.
Our RAVAS range has pallet trucks with capacities of up to 4409 lb. Optionally, you can choose a type that goes up to 6614 lb. All pallet trucks measure with an accuracy of 2.20 lb, while some can measure with an accuracy of 1.10 lb when your load is less than 1102 lb.
Alternatively, you can have the automatic dosing function with the RAVAS 3200, which makes it ideal for determining dosages.
Step 2: The forks
Of course, your pallet trucks need to be able to lift and move the loads efficiently and safely, which means the forks must be compatible with the pallets being used. Depending on the type of pallet truck, the fork lengths range from 44.68 in to 47.24 in, while the width across the forks ranges from 21.26 in to 22.83 in. Of course, to keep things simple, each type of weighing pallet truck has a fixed fork length and width.
Step 3: Use
You also need to determine how and where to deploy the weighing pallet trucks. This can be a personal consideration and depends on company-specific needs or requirements.
- Will it be indoors or outdoors as well? For instance, some types are watertight and can be used outdoors. Those types can be used to check incoming and shipping weights quickly and efficiently. These types are shock and vibration-resistant as well.
- How will you use the pallet truck? Particular pallet trucks have very versatile uses: a scissor pallet truck can be used as either a hand pallet truck, a lifting table or even a workbench.
Step 4: Comfort and efficiency
While every pallet truck is designed and developed with ergonomic considerations in mind, comfort also means ease of use. For instance, all weighing pallet trucks in our range have a built-in display to know the load you’re handling immediately. They also have angled fork tips, designed for easy access to pallets. Several of our RAVAS weighing pallet trucks have Bluetooth to connect the pallet truck with RAVAS Weightsapp. You can read and log all weight data - gross, net, tare - into any smart device, along with its product code, date and time, apparatus or operator ID, all to be used in the data management system.
Additionally, you can choose between manual or electric lifting and manual or electric driving. The electric options enable you to exert more control over the more delicate loads. Electric lifting and driving also means battery management. Depending on the type of pallet truck, the batteries are either a set of simple AA batteries or an exchangeable Li-ion battery pack lasting 75 working hours.
