Are battery connectors of different brands interchangeable?

Yes, DIN connectors from different brands are interchangeable, except for the type with air supply. Flat-wiping connectors fit each other as long as the colour code is respected, i.e., a blue SRE320 won’t match a red SRE320. The colour code is a safety measure that prevents incompatible connectors being connected to each other. With DIN connectors, this is prevented using a coding pin.

DIN connectors

With DIN connectors, a distinction is made between male and female connectors. The battery requires a female connector, and the machine and charger need male connectors. Because of this, you will never be able to connect the charger directly to the machine. To prevent you from connecting a 48 V charger to a 24 V battery, coding pins are used. These can be fitted on plugs in such a way that only plugs with coding pins mounted in the same way will fit together. On each coding pin, there is an indication of the voltage that you can then read on the plugs.

Flat-wiping connectors

With flat-wiping connectors, there is no distinction between male or female plugs. There is only one type of flat-wiping connector, which is both male and female. The advantage of this is that you can use the same plug for the battery, the charger and the machine. The voltage of a battery is indicated by the color of the plug. Each color from each range has a different sliding pattern, so two different colored connectors won't fit together.
