TVH’s offering for small earth-movers, more than 9 makes

While parts and accessories for small earth-movers were only recently introduced to our range, TVH already has a lot to offer to keep those machines going. Our offering fits all major makes and models of mini-excavators, skid steer loaders, compact track loaders and backhoe loaders. But we can also help customers who need parts suitable for makes outside of that scope. TVH Expert Joris Tijtgat explains the how’s, what’s and why’s.

About the expert

Joris Tijtgat is Market Management Specialist for small earth-movers at TVH. He monitors and analyses the market to develop TVH’s range of parts for that equipment effectively. He started working for the company in 2012 and has taken on several roles since then. First in the Hydraulics Team, until he moved to the Small Earth-Movers Team in 2019. He was Team Leader for four years before settling into his current position as Market Management Specialist for Small Earth-Movers at the beginning of 2023.

Growing range of parts for small earth-movers

“Since the official introduction of small earth-movers to TVH’s range in 2020, our offering of parts and accessories for those machines has only expanded”, Joris begins. “New parts are added on a daily basis and the continuous expansion recently resulted in the launch of a new equipment type. Alongside mini-excavators, skid steer loaders and compact track loaders, the backhoe loader also joined TVH’s small earth-moving family.”

“Within that family, we take proactive action for parts and accessories suitable for 9 focus makes: Bobcat, Case, Caterpillar, JCB, John Deere, Kubota, Takeuchi, Volvo, and Yanmar. Those makes represent the largest global market share within our submarkets.”

Small earth-movers at TVH, more than 9 focus makes

“However, TVH’s range of parts and accessories for small earth-movers is of course not limited to the equipment types and focus makes that I mentioned”, Joris reassures. “Only looking at our 9 focus makes, we have about 2 million known references. But our total number of known references – of all of our parts and accessories for small earth-movers – accumulates to over 4 million!”

“That high amount of known references signifies that we don’t limit the development of parts and accessories for small earth-movers to our 9 focus makes. In fact, we research plenty of other makes outside of our focus”, Joris stresses. “Think of Komatsu, Hitachi, Terex, Thwaites, Wacker Neuson, Ausa, Giant, Schaeff, Doosan and many more. In addition, we move beyond our scope of equipment types. Next to mini-excavators, skid steer loaders, compact track loaders and backhoe loaders, we also develop parts for dumpers, wheeled excavators, articulated wheel loaders, etc.”

Proactive versus reactive development

Naturally, the development of parts and accessories for makes inside versus outside our focus scope is not the same.

“When it comes to our 9 focus makes, we take proactive action in terms of development. This means that we research parts and accessories suitable for those makes before our customers need them. Thus, there is no demand for those products yet, but we do expect to receive that demand in the future”, Joris explains. “Additionally, we estimate how much demand there will be for certain products and replenish our stock accordingly. In that way, we can move very quickly when an order comes through. In some cases, we can even ensure that customers receive their parts within 24 hours.”

Reactive development

“For parts and accessories suitable for makes outside of our focus scope, on the other hand, we opt for reactive development. That means that the development is purely based on the requests of our customers. Hence, the size of our stock is in line with the demand.”

“In practice, this means that you can always contact us for parts and accessories for all kinds of small earth-mover makes. If we don’t have what you need yet, our extensive look-up service will process your request. Delivery may be a bit slower, but we will always make an effort to ensure that parts are delivered on time.”

What does the future hold?

“This way of working fits us well, so we will continue along the same lines. However, we also aim for bigger and better”, Joris adds. “First of all, we want to continue to expand our range in various ways: by adding new parts, new makes and new equipment types. Only recently, we officially added parts for backhoe loaders to our offering for small earth-movers.”

“Secondly, we are striving to strengthen our current range for small earth-movers. Think of constant high stock levels for parts and accessories that are very popular. In that context, we will also focus more on the regional tailoring of stock levels. The aim is to fully align the stock in local TVH branches with the demand in that region. This means paying extra attention to what parts are needed more in a certain country, but also taking into account the regional popularity of equipment types.”

“What is certain in any case, is that our offering is continually expanding, with new parts being added every day. And in that expansion, the needs of our customers are always at the centre”, Joris concludes.
