Industrial squeegee machines are an essential tool for businesses that need to keep large surface areas clean. Sanitary floors provide many benefits, ranging from visually appealing working areas to improving the health and safety of employees.
Routine inspections of your squeegee blades are essential to maintain effective cleaning. Below are a few signs to look out for indicating the squeegee blade needs to be replaced.
- Visible wear and tear: Cracks, nicks, and fraying of the blade are easily spotted signs of damage. Blades typically need to be changed every 3-6 months depending on the cleaning surface and volume.
- Inconsistent cleaning, streaks, or pooling water: Deteriorated edges or cracks in the blades will lead to water collection issues, leaving streaks, pools of water, or remaining debris.
If you’ve noticed any of the above signs indicating it’s time to replace the squeegee blades, we have you covered. We are proud to offer a vast inventory of squeegees made out of a variety of different materials cut in-house on our state of the art cutting machine. If you’re not sure what type of material would suit you best, below we highlight the most common types of materials and their use applications.
- Tan & Red Gum: This material offers high tensile strength and great elasticity. Gum is resistant to cuts, tears, organic salts, ammonia, acids, and alkalis. Best for water collection on smooth even surfaces such as tile.
- Neoprene: Flexible and durable, this material maintains its shape and performance over time. Highly resistant to chemicals and abrasions, neoprene is a strong choice for manufacturing.
- Cloth-inserted (C.I.) Neoprene: C.I. neoprene offers even better resistance to abrasions, chemicals, and weathering. C.I. neoprene is resistant to oils and greases, making it very popular in the automotive industry.
- Natural Urethane: Outstanding cut & tear strength, long lasting flex fatigue and ability to perform under high loads. It is also resistant to oils, solvents, hydrocarbons, and many other aggressive industrial agents.
- Ridged Natural Urethane: The ridges create a better seal between the blade and cleaning surface. It is best suited for use on rough surfaces.
- Synthetic Butadiene Rubber (SBR): Better ozone resistance and temperature capabilities. This material can be applied to a range of blades including neoprene and C.I. neoprene. SBR provides strong resistance to flame, abrasion, flex, and cracking.
