Discover our range of hydraulic brake drums
Brake drums are part of a wondrous assembly of mechanical components. Inside the drum, a piston pushes the brake shoes against the rotating drum, which is connected to the wheel hub, thus creating friction and decelerating the machine. The brake drum itself acts as a housing, keeping the internal components free from external contaminants.
Keep in mind: a brake drum needs to be worn in, so friction material starts sticking against the surface. This way, the drum will create more friction and, consequently, more braking power.
Because of its design, loose friction material stays inside the drum. Initially, this causes extra friction and braking power but eventually, this excess of friction material will result in the brake drum needing to be replaced.
Your application determines the type of hydraulic brake drum you will need.
- Made of cast iron, the brake drum can endure the applied forces for a long time
- TVH offers many different types, including conical, with holes, with splines or assembled with the hub.
