At TVH, we know our actions today can make a huge impact on the world around us. That is why we make it a priority to focus on sustainable and environmentally conscious business practices. This commitment reaffirms our mission part to preserve the health, beauty, and well-being of our planet. We will achieve this by establishing balanced and beneficial practices in our business process and product offering to positively contribute to future generations.
In an effort to support our community and our world as a whole, our sustainability initiative is measured against the global sustainability standards outlined in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations. The SDGs provide a blueprint and call to action for United Nations members to tackle climate change and working to preserve our planet. TVH has made tremendous strides over the past decade to support this endeavor, including:
- Establishing health, safety & wellness initiatives. This includes the Nudge Program, which helps employees live lifestyle encompassing total well-being, including mind, body, and spirit and is available to all employees for free. We have also taken the commitment to the health and wellbeing of our employees one step further by offering an on-site health clinic at our headquarters in Olathe, KS. These initiatives help reaffirm TVH’s commitment to the health and wellness of our employees, while providing them and their families the support they need to live happy, healthy lives.
- Emphasizing quality education for our employees and customers. We do this by focusing on learning & development including technical programs for employees and customers. These efforts include Leadership Academy, TVH University, Product Trainings, and LinkedIn Learning programs. These initiatives help continue TVH’s mission of collaboration and education for our employees as well as our customers.
- Supporting grassroots initiatives and community outreach such as Volunteer Day, where each employee gets a full day of work each year to give back to the community. Along with our Volunteer Day, TVH Cares is a charitable program that encourages employees to get involved and make an impact in our communities! These efforts reaffirm TVH’s commitment to better our community.
- Prioritizing sustainable practices that benefit our employees and our environment like the Garden Club and the Think Green Committee. Just some of these initiatives include establishing a company garden, instituted recycling programs in our offices and warehouses, installing a solar panel power array, participating in the community Adopt-a-Street program, and so much more. These efforts directly support our commitment to keep the beauty of our community and our planet around for future generations. For example, our solar panel array located on top of our warehouse in Olathe, KS, helped provide power to 1,211 homes this summer alone. In addition, it helped reduce carbon dioxide emissions by offsetting approximately 320,000 lbs. of CO2 emissions over just the past three months.
All of the incredible efforts TVH has taken in recent years have made a positive impact on our business practices and our community, and will continue to look for ways to improve and adopt more sustainable policies.
