TVH Hosts the First Blood Drive of the Year

Health and wellness often focus on food or exercise. Expanding the view to well-being covers more than the physical body, it includes gratitude, generosity, and giving to others. Giving blood is a way to give the gift of life. Only 37% of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood, and less than 10% do annually, which means supply cannot always meet demand.

As part of its deep-rooted commitment in giving to others, and helping to save lives in the community, TVH will be hosting its first blood drive of the year on January 22, 2019. Employees from Olathe-KS and Grayslake-IL locations can sign up, and are able to donate blood to save lives. In 2018, we collected 222 units thus equating to over 660 lives.

“The thought that my donation could help a co-worker, friend or even a complete stranger is enough incentive for me,” said TVH employee Don Holman about why he donates blood. Don is one of many individuals who donate regularly.

Hosting blood drives is one of the many ways TVH and its employees give back to the community. In 2017, TVH was recognized by the American Red Cross as a Premier Blood Program Partner, based on prior year donations. The need for blood is crucial, and everyday donors help patients of all ages. Our organization shares the humanitarian value to help our neighbor.

"The blood drive is a great way for a little bit of your time to go a long way and help people who are in need.  It costs you nothing and you can save up to three peoples lives," said Mathew Trudeau - TIS/Grayslake.

We will continue to support the Red Cross by hosting 2 more blood drive in Olathe and Grayslake throughout the year.  Make a difference and be someone's real life superhero!
